sich darum und schafft Abhilfe und führt ganz strenge Kontrollen durch.

Given the nature of schools, it would be very difficult for the district to implement and
enforce a district-wide, scent-free environment policy. Where staff and students have
extreme health reactions to scents, the district and school sites have developed very tight
controls to reduce and eliminate hazardous scents in the individual facilities. The
committee agreed the current practice of developing site-specific protocols and
procedures is appropriate and that a district-wide, scent-free policy is not practical at this
time.

Recommendation: That the Board send a letter to CUPE Local 379 and the
Burnaby Teachers’ Association informing and outlining the
current protocols and action plans that the district follows
when an individual staff member or student has extreme
health reactions to scents and explaining that a district-wide,
scent free policy is not practical given the nature of schools.
