Dr. Stanley Malcolm Caress
January 30, 1951 - May 6, 2016

Stan was a consummate researcher, teacher, and friend. He devoted his life to helping people, and he pursued MCS research with tremendous drive. His goal was to produce scientific studies that would make MCS accepted by the medical community and by society. His recent work made important links between MCS and asthma. His wife Lori was a trusted collaborator and research assistant on his articles.

With deep appreciation, I provide a collection of Stan's articles on the topic of MCS. The articles are provided free of charge, thanks to the journal editors who generously provided them for this tribute.

I was so blessed to know Stan and to work with him. We miss him profoundly. Anne

Dr. Stanley Malcolm Caress Obituary

Dr. Stanley Caress, of Winston, GA was a professor of political science, faculty advisor and programs director at The University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA. He was the regional director of the Center for Future Democracy, a non-profit research organization, and served as the president of the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration.

His research included studies of environmental health focusing on illnesses from exposures to toxic materials. He published articles on legislative term limits, environmental policy and multiple chemical sensitivity.

As his wife observed, “The most important measure of a person goes beyond their accomplishments; it’s about who they are. Stan demonstrated an exemplary combination of traits—compassion and empathy, a wry contagious sense of humor that brought people together, a tenaciousness and drive in the most difficult of circumstances, wisdom and perception beyond his years, but above all an unusual ability to love. And this, when one’s life is completed, the ability to love and be loved is the most important measure of a human being. Stan's humanity will live on far beyond our sense of loss."
