Claudia Miller nennt MCS TILT.

Umweltfragebogen QESSI

Beitragvon Konstantin » Mittwoch 25. April 2007, 15:26

Konstantin

QEESI Studie weist Zusammenhang zwischen chronischen Krankheiten und Chemical Sensitivity

11.03.2014
By Eileen Pace

QEESI Study Draws Connection between Chronic Illness and Chemical Sensitivity

Sensitivity to household chemicals, perfumes, and air pollution often go undetected, but now there’s a way for patients, especially those with mysterious medical symptoms, to discover if they are sensitive to certain chemicals.

The QEESI, or Quick Environmental Exposure and Sensitivity Inventory, is now available online. This 15-minute questionnaire developed by San Antonio researcher Dr. Claudia Miller, allows individuals to rate their reactions to things like car exhaust, nail polish, paints, and pesticides.

Dr. Miller, a researcher at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio and professor at the University of Texas School of Medicine, developed the test because chemical sensitivities are common in an estimated 20 percent of chronically-ill patients, but are rarely diagnosed by physicians. ...

Giftstoff induzierter Verlust der Toleranz (TILT)

Giftstoff induzierter Verlust der Toleranz (TILT)

Was ist TILT?

What is TILT?

Originally described in 1996 by Dr. Claudia Miller, Toxicant Induced Loss of Tolerance, or TILT, is a theory of illness that has the symptom of chemical sensitivity, most commonly referred to as multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), at its heart. Miller suggests that the theory not only explains the mechanisms behind multiple chemical sensitivity but can also be used to explain those behind other unexplained illnesses such as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and Gulf War syndrome (GWS). Claudia Miller is Assistant Professor of Environmental and Occupational Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center, a leading MCS researcher, and co-author of the book Chemical Exposures: Low Levels and High Stakes....

Allergies, Autoimmunity & ASD - C Miller, MD

Veröffentlicht am 05.12.2012

"Does my child have an infection? or "Is my child allergic?
Presented by Claudia Miller, MD, PhD at the Fall 2012 Autism Research Institute Conference

One hundred fifty years ago, with no germ theory of disease, and no immune theory of disease to guide them, doctors had no way of answering such questions, let alone saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of soldiers dying from infections during the Civil War.
Today's doctors face the same dilemma, as another new theory of disease emerges from the post-World War II petrochemical revolution. This time it's an exposure-driven dynamic—TILT, or Toxicant-induced Loss of Tolerance—with evidence from dozens of industrialized nations linking chemicals in our diets and environments to a wide range of unexplained chronic illnesses, from asthma and allergies to chronic fatigue, depression and autoimmune disorders, to attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and, yes, autism. In a recent study of 400 consecutive chronically ill patients who visited a primary care clinic, 20% met stringent criteria for chemical intolerance. Recent evidence also suggests that mothers of children with ADHD and autism, and their children, share a common bond: chemical intolerance.
Environmentally controlled medical facilities could help doctors determine whether today's chronic illnesses are environmentally mediated and whether the symptoms are reversible. As a first step, doctors can take an exposure history and use the validated Quick Environmental Exposure and Sensitivity Inventory (QEESI) to diagnose chemical and food intolerances.

1. September 2017
Will Sansom

Mold will be health issue after Harvey, expert says
September 1, 2017
Will Sansom

As people in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey begin to return to their flooded homes, many will face mold problems. The chemicals used to kill the mold can, for some people, present as big a health challenge as the mold itself.

Environmental medicine researcher Claudia Miller, M.D., M.S., of the Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio, says physicians in affected states need to know what to do for patients in the storm’s aftermath. Over the coming months, millions will be facing mold exposure, and it’s important for health care providers to know the signs and symptoms.

Mold exposure is associated with three types of health problems, Dr. Miller said. These are allergy, toxicity and toxicant-induced loss of tolerance (TILT).
